Sizes used for try squares: English squares are usually measured on the inside of the blade,  Stanley squares use the outside measure for size.

  Disston No 5 1/2 four inch metal square. Unlike Stanley, Disston uses the English graduation i.e. the 4" edge is measured on the inside. That makes the square approximately 1 inch wider. Clear markings. A$ 35
