This is a very rare, 200 plus year old French butteris or hoof paring tool (chisel). What makes this one so special is the authentic and very detailed finial in the form of a horse's leg and hoof. Notice that even the under-side of the hoof is exact in every detail. This feature is extremely rare. I've looked at these tools for many years, now I finally managed to buy one. There are copies around, usually beautifully made brass tools that sell for a fortune at international tool sales but I'm convinced that they were all made fairly recently. Unfortunately there is quite a bit of damage to the under-side of the leather-washer type handle. A$ 220 postage Australia included |
![]() A good selection of shipwrights tools including caulking irons, steel fid, 3" slick and lipped adze. The adze is well used but the lips are still intact and the handle is simply beautiful. ![]() ![]() This is a most interesting set of 3/16" Special Grade vintage Gothic letter and number punches. Maker is H.Boker & Co, New York. I don't think this is the Henry Boker company that comes to mind. The two wooden boxes are bound together, maybe that's how the set was sold in the first place. Great "test" punch marks by former owner, working in the Time Office MRR 63 as well as Miss Lafine Time Office on the back. I'm curious to know who's time they kept in that office and why Miss Lafine needed number and letter punches for keeping the time!! 10" x 2 3/4" x 3 1/2". A$ 135 postage Australia included |
![]() Unused set of large 1/2" or 12.5mm letter punches made in England. Heavy set, over 3kgs. A$ 125 postage Australia included |

Vintage 4" wide fish spear with 5 barbed prongs. Partial maker's label. I think these were sold in the 50s. I believe the laws now forbid the use of barbed spears and hand spear cannot have more than 2 prongs. So I guess this one is for the private museum. A$ 70 postage Australia included sorry, SOLD |
