Stanley 57 Core Box Plane offered 1896 - 1943 value: A$ 150 plane without extensions, A$ 400 with one set of side extensions, A$ 1,200 with three sets 10" long with 7/8 cutter. Larger version of the 56. Works on the same principle but sides can be extended. Plane often sold with missing extensions or, like the one pictured on the right, missing the proper turnbuckle centre bar. Early models nickel plated, late models black japanned.
