Stanley 8 jointer plane
offered 1869 - 1984
value A$ 200 pre war, A$ 150 post war
corrugated sole A$ 250
24" long with a 2 5/8" cutter
Caution: always check iron, back iron and
lever cap. Some backyard dealers will sell you a No 8 with No 7 parts. They are too small and devalue a plane by half!
Stanley doesn't produce this size any more, new old stock replacements
are expensive because they have to be sourced from chunker planes.
Tip: The # 32,33,34 and 132 Liberty
Bell use the same size cutter (2 5/8"). It will fit your No 8; all you
have to do is make the slot a little bit wider or the lateral adjuster
won't work.
.
Stanley 132/8 comparison, same size cutter. The back iron is not
interchangeable.
