1893 patent saw file holder (saw jointer). This is one of the better examples I have come
across. It can take fairly big files just over 1 inch wide and has a fence that
allows the use on any kind of saw, including the fattest cross cuts. A$ 75
postage Australia included

Pair of very old crosscut saw handles made from wood and metal. Both of them
have the two slots for a 90 degree position change, see picture 2. However the
short one has a lever-type adjuster, a feature I have not seen before. My guess
is it allowed for a quicker turning when the position was changed and maybe the
lever acted as a guard at the same time. I left them in as found condition,
dirt, rust and all. The shorter one is 270mm long, the loner one 340 mm. I can't
see any maker's markings but they might be there under the rust, I'm quite sure
these are factory made handles. A$ 90 postage Australia included

Plated beech brace marked Thos Ibbotson, Makers, Sheffield. Head has some

"Ultimatum" brass framed ebony brace with a roll of bits that actually fit! This
is one of the nicest models I've come across in many years. Just a couple of
minor chips on the underside of the head otherwise simply stunning. A$ 750

Outstanding early European piano maker's brace from the mid 1700s. Without
doubt one of the best pieces I've come across. Note the screw-pod chuck, a
feature I haven't seen before. There is no bit in it but it will take a later
Continental type bit with a flat tang. This is a fairly large, chunky
tool, 17" long and 2" thick at the shoulder. If you look closely you might see
that there are traces of varnish on parts of the brace. It was a display piece
in a private museum and whoever preserved it 50 or so years ago didn't do a very
good job. I won't touch it but if I was a collector instead of a dealer I
certainly would restore it to all its former glory. You'll love this one. A$ 450
postage Australia included.
